Matthias has been head of research in Germany since 2015. He leads our market research team from the Savills Berlin office and is responsible for our publications on the German commercial and residential property markets.
Matthias keeps a firm eye on developments in the German property market. As our market research expert, he is continuously closely observing events in the real estate industry. Matthias graduated in Geography and also studied Economics at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He spent three years as a research assistant at the Institute of Economic Geography before moving to the Savills research team in 2008. Matthias reflects on social developments and trends as well as their consequences for the German commercial and residential property markets. He is involved in the Society of Property Researchers, Germany and has headed its property market research experts group since 2018. Matthias not only shares his findings as a lecturer with his students at the Real Estate Business Academy (ADI), his market analyses also help advance his clients’ real estate projects.
As a “Berliner-by-choice”, he lives in a historic district in the northeast of the capital. Reading books by and about inspiring people helps take his mind off things.
